Taiwan to Launch Mandatory Online Arrival Card (TWAC) on October 1, 2025

Taipei, Taiwan — Beginning October 1, 2025, Taiwan will fully implement the Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC) online system, officially replacing the traditional paper arrival card. The new digital system is designed to streamline immigration procedures, reduce processing time, and provide a faster, more convenient entry experience for international travelers.

Under the new requirement, eligible travelers must complete the TWAC form within three days prior to arrival via the official website (https://twac.immigration.gov.tw

) or by scanning a QR code available at airports and seaports. Once submitted, the system automatically processes the information, allowing immigration officers to retrieve it directly by scanning the traveler’s passport. Paper forms and additional certificates will no longer be necessary.

Multilingual support in seven languages: Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian.

Passport photo upload for automatic data entry.

Family or group submissions, allowing one person to register up to 16 travelers.

Real-time access for reviewing or updating information.

Who Must Complete TWAC:

Foreign nationals entering Taiwan with a visitor visa or visa-exempt entry.

Hong Kong and Macao residents holding a multiple-entry permit.

Mainland Chinese citizens holding a multiple-entry tourist permit.

Nationals without household registration in Taiwan who do not hold a resident certificate.

Travelers who fail to complete the TWAC in advance may still submit the form by scanning the QR code upon arrival. However, submission must be completed before immigration inspection in order to proceed with entry clearance.
